October is one of the most underrated times to discover the Riviera dei Cedri: fewer crowds, quieter historic villages, local traditions, nature and a completely different atmosphere from the peak summer season.
Sangineto can be used as a base for exploring Belvedere Marittimo, Diamante, Cetraro and the inland landscapes of northern Calabria.

Events on the Riviera dei Cedri in October 2026
The autumn programme is smaller than in August, but several events are closely connected to local identity and traditions.
13–20 October · annual tradition
Belvedere Marittimo
Saint Daniel Fasanella
This is traditionally the main period dedicated to Belvedere Marittimo's patron saint. On 13 October the statue is carried from the Convent towards the Marina, before returning to the Convent on 20 October.

The historic Fiera del Lago accompanies the patron saint celebrations and is one of Belvedere Marittimo's long-standing traditions.

The autumn date concludes a four-event project dedicated to the Vuglio Waterfall, nature, sustainability and discovering Sangineto beyond the summer season.
Belvedere Marittimo during Saint Daniel
If you are on the Riviera dei Cedri during the second half of October, Belvedere Marittimo is one of the places worth putting at the centre of your itinerary.
Beyond the celebrations, you can explore the historic centre, the castle, the Capuchin Convent and the coastal area.
Saint Valentine in Belvedere Marittimo
The Convent also keeps relics traditionally attributed to Saint Valentine. It is one of the Riviera dei Cedri's lesser-known local stories and makes the visit interesting even outside the patron saint celebrations.

Sangineto in October
After summer, the historic village takes on a completely different rhythm. Streets become quieter, while panoramic walks, local food and inland excursions become a larger part of the stay.
The 23 October event at the Vuglio Waterfall gives travellers a concrete reason to explore Sangineto's natural side as well.
The best way to approach October
Rather than planning a beach holiday, build a short road trip around Sangineto + Belvedere + Diamante, with nature and local food added in.
Diamante outside the summer season
Diamante remains one of the easiest places to add to an October itinerary: the historic centre, murals, seafront, Cirella and local restaurants can be experienced in a much quieter atmosphere than in August.

A simple 3-day October itinerary
Arrive, explore the historic village, enjoy the coastal views and have dinner nearby.
Historic centre, Capuchin Convent, castle and, during the Saint Daniel period, local celebrations and the Fiera del Lago.
Explore Diamante and Cirella, or spend a slower day inland and around the Vuglio Waterfall.
