September 2026
Festivals, music and local traditions
September is one of the most interesting months
to visit the Riviera dei Cedri.
The sea is still part of the experience,
while some of the area's most important annual events
take place during the first half of the month.
1–8 September 2026
San Sosti · Sanctuary of Our Lady of Pettoruto
Feast of Madonna del Pettoruto
The main September celebrations take place
at the mountain sanctuary above San Sosti.
The programme traditionally includes
the Crowning of the Virgin on 5 September,
the solemn feast on 7 September
and the anniversary of the dedication of the Basilica
on 8 September.
Traditional preparation of Calabrian chilli peppers in Sangineto.
12 September 2026
Sangineto · Vuglio Waterfall
La Cascata che Incanta
A project dedicated to the Vuglio Waterfall
and to the natural and cultural heritage of Sangineto.
It offers an opportunity to discover
the area beyond its beaches.
September is also a particularly good time
for combining local events with Diamante,
Belvedere Marittimo, Sangineto
and the beaches of northern Calabria.
Planning a September trip?
Combine one of the local events
with the sea, historic villages
and a few days exploring the Riviera dei Cedri.
October 2026
Saint Daniel, historic villages and nature
October brings a slower rhythm to the coast.
Traditional celebrations, historic centres
and inland landscapes become a larger part
of the experience.
13–20 October · annual tradition
Belvedere Marittimo
Saint Daniel and the Fiera del Lago
Belvedere Marittimo traditionally celebrates
its patron saint, San Daniele Fasanella,
during the second half of October.
The celebrations are linked to the historic
Fiera del Lago, one of the town's
long-standing traditions.
The project dedicated to the Vuglio Waterfall
continues into October,
offering another reason to visit Sangineto
outside the traditional summer season.
By November the coast becomes quieter.
The focus moves towards historic villages,
local food, chestnut season,
the Calabrian hinterland
and longer, slower stays.
November · calendar being updated
Northern Calabria
Chestnuts and autumn traditions
Several inland villages traditionally celebrate
chestnuts and seasonal products during autumn.
Confirmed dates can be added
as official local programmes are released.
November
Riviera dei Cedri
A slower Calabria
November works particularly well
for travellers interested in quiet villages,
local restaurants, panoramic drives
and remote-work stays rather than beach tourism.
